The Week 5 NAFA 1st Division fixtures kicked off this Friday 7 May, with Saints Football Club hosting Bloemendal United’s Reserves and 1st Team. Both games was filled with some good action, as we witnessed 14 Goal Feast for the evening. Saints Reserve Teams went down 3-4 aswell as the 1st Team. Liyema Mngxuma was the star player of the evening for Saints 1st team as he scored two crackers, one long range and one beautiful freekick.
Saints 1st Team was leading 3-2 at the stroke of halftime. The second half started with a bang and Saints threw away some early chances to make sure they can control the game better. Bloemendal United equalized close to 5min left on the clock. Saints defense was surprised by that late equalizer and lost a bit of focus and discipline. Bloemendal United capitalized on the mistakes as Saints conceded a last minute penalty, and they made sure they can end the game of 3-4.
Well Done to Bloemendal United for the fighting spirit. This result moved Saints from the top position on the Log to 7th position after all other teams results of the weekend. The goal difference totals is going to be a big factor moving forward in the season, although it’s early days in the season this will be important in the weeks and fixtures ahead.
